Russia: MH17 investigation conclusions ‘biased’ — Zakharova

A spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova termed the results of the MH17 crash investigation as «biased» and «politically motivated», speaking with the journalists of Komsomolskaya Pravda in Moscow, Wednesday.

One year ago, Russian President gave a speech to the UN General Assembly and said: «We are ready to unite; we want you to listen to us. And we did unite, because what you did deny two years ago, actually does exist». These are Islamic State and international terrorism. What are you frightening children with, demands an adequate response and it is possible only if we join together. Remember what was the reaction in the beginning: nobody listened to us, nobody reacted, some people ironized. Later, step-by-step they began to understand us. Yes, the series of the horrible terrorist attacks, bloody terrorist acts in Europe popped up this question. The International Syria Support Group was established. To be honest, the countries and Washington found power that they should not judge everyone in the same way. Washington also invested a lot in the two-track process — one is the negotiation between Damascus and opposition, a second was aimed to fight terrorism. It became possible because of every country — ISSG member sidelined, of course, they did not give up, but sidelined the topic of Assad’s resignation as the key point for cooperation. We worked on that for a year. In the beginning of 2016, this two-way process was launched, we applied enormous efforts. But, everything led to the fact that the US does not implement the commitments that it took half a year ago during the negotiation process and confirmed it on public. Talking exactly, it was dividing the moderate opposition and terrorists.»

Put it mildly, we classify them as biased and of course politically motivated statements, which have been done. It is important that the evidence and the evidence base, which has been demonstrated, I mean, which was used by the Dutch Prosecutor’s Office, is based on the data provided by the Ukrainian authorities. It is hard to image more engaged party than the Kiev security forces.»
